The shortlist of the XXII Kazan International Altyn minbar Film Festival is formed. The official selection includes 54 films. The film forum will be held in the capital of Tatarstan on September 4-8, 2026. This year, cinematographers from 66 countries applied to participate in the festival. As the management of the festival mentions, those are from all continents. The organizers received 1,030 films spanning a wide range of genres, from feature films to animated ones, as well as the increasingly popular vertical-format films. For the first time in the existence of the festival, there are works from Venezuela, Negara Brunei Darussalam, and Togo.

The International Selection Committee is headed by Nina Kochelyaeva, a producer, director of the New Institute of Cultural Studies, head of department, and senior research fellow at VGIK. There are 54 films from 21 countries: Russia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Türkiye, Egypt, Tajikistan, Spain, Syria, India, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Togo, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, the USA, Algeria, Morocco, and Kazakhstan. Ten films are featured in each of the following categories: “Feature Films,” “Short Films,” “Documentary Films,” and “Animated Films,” while a further 14 films are featured in the National Competition, which includes films produced in Tatarstan and those about Tatarstan.

Traditionally, the official selection contains Russian and foreign films reflecting universal moral values and cultural traditions, conveying the ideas of peacemaking, religious tolerance, and humanism.
